Let’s be honest. Your Employee Wellness Program is often a tick box that HR feels like they have to tick. Program A is equal to Program B. The Low utilisation has bugged you. You know you pay for everyone whilst only a few use it. But you’ve not seen an alternative, so you keep going with what you’ve got.

Let’s face it. In my own company, I’ve experienced this from our service provider. I PERSONALLY knew my staff well enough to know what they were going through. However, when I get the monthly report, extremely small numbers of those with issues, utilised any of the support services.

Why? Because struggling with depression is real. You don’t FEEL up to making that support call. So, you don’t get help.

Trauma is real. People get hurt physically, emotionally, psychologically. But trauma is intimate and having to take the initiative to disclose it, and fearing potential embarrassment, prevents you from asking for the help your employer is paying for.
